Optimus Prime
Voice Changer Helmet

I spend my weekends wearing someone else’s head now.

Ever since I came back from this year’s Toy Kingdom Warehouse sale, I’ve been wearing someone else’s face. Looking out through another beings eyes, speaking in a borrowed voice. I feel like Zues killing the father, and taking up his mantle, his strength.

No I haven’t gone and pulled a Hannibal Lecter and started eating people. I’ve gone and bought an Optimus Prime Voice Changer Helmet.

From EntertainmentEarth.com

I’ve been wanting to get this thing since the first time it came out in 2007 after Bay’s re-envisioning of the Transformers. It’s a good thing that I waited until after Revenge of the Fallen was out in 2009. The first few toys had Gary Chalk (voice of Optimus Primal from Beast Wars) as the voice. It’s fine really, but they started changing the toys with genuine Peter Cullen voiced phrases. Now who would you choose?

TRUKK NOT MUNKY!

I know right?! Even after they made the running change to the Cullen voice, I still held off because, frankly, I couldn’t afford it. The thing had a retail price here of about p4,000.00 (it was about $80.00 in the states). That’s a a good number of Deluxe Class Transformers (I tell you, one day we’ll speak of all costs by that unit of measure!). Not having this kind of scratch, I let myself forget about wearing the Noggin of the Prime.

But then, Playkit went and did it again. Though I try and buy at SRP as much as I can, one can’t help but rejoice when our resident Transformers distributor decides to slash prices on their peg warmers. This usually includes the more expensive items, including this one. From it’s original price, it dropped right down to p1,500.00. Finally within my price range!

And there was much rejoicing.
