DCUC Gotham City 5
(3 of Them Anyway)

So I was talking to the guy who brought me into the toy collecting fold (my very own Mr. Miyagi… except he says “dude” a lot more than Pat Morita) and he said something too me that stuck with me. To paraphrase my mentor:

“Too many lines, Daniel-son!”

True story.

Anyway, aside from Marvel and Transformers and GI Joe, and NECA and everything else that catches my eye, I also pull the assorted DCUC character from the shelves. The problem with DCUC is that they adopted the old BAF (Build-A-Figure) scheme that Toy Biz made famous. So if want a Solomon Grundy or Imperiex, you’ve got to bite the bullet and get the whole set.

A few months back, I got the re-issued DC Superheroes (DCSH) Battlesuit Lex. I thought it was pretty stonkin’. Naturally, this required me to get a Superman, in this case the DC Universe Classics (DCUC) version, sans mullet and laser eyes. That’s what started the search for the rest of the Gotham City 5.

The Gotham City 5 boxset is exclusive to Walmart and features 4 repaints of old DCSH and DCUC figures (Batman, Superman, Catwoman, and Two Face) and 1 new Lex Luthor figure in his Legion of Doom get up. Since it’s an exclusive, the box has been selling here for Php 5,000 and up, which isn’t bad considering the suggested retail price for just one of these figures is Php 1,300. Still I could not bring myself to pay for yet another Batman and Superman figure. How many DCUC Batmen are there now? 57?

I got the rest of the set eventually, starting with the Superman, then the Two Face, and last the Lex Luthor and Catwoman. Since Catwoman is really the only one of these figures that came with an accessory, I think buying them loose without any accoutrements didn’t really cost me anything I’d miss.

I already reviewed Superman (sort of), so let’s focus on the others.
